When
Reverend Rusty & The Case lay into an evening's worth – usually
in three sets – of soulful blues-rocking, their subtle
grace and low-key elegance is hypnotic and stunning. Since
1984 down the neverending road, this trio is breezing into your
town, setting up, blowing the roof off the packed blues club,
loading up their gear and doing it again the next night. They
aren't glamorous, and they don't stay always in the finest places
or eat the best food. They don't even have a tour bus. But when
Reverend Rusty & The Case hit the stage, they're the best,
hardest-working band in the world.
Rolling
through the set with only a rushed "thank you" between
tunes, the band shifts songs like a high-performance sports car,
peeling into turns with speed and precision. No flash, no light
show, and, most importantly, no egos … nothing but three
hours of the best blues band most of the world has never heard.
Reverend Rusty & The Case grinding out each show as if it's
their last. Terms like slick, commercial, high-profile, photogenic and radio-ready aren't
in their vocabulary, but for a craggy bunch of road warriors,
they exude a peculiar cool charm.
Don't miss them next time
they pull into your
town.
